Disclaimer
ProbatePrep is self-help software, not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice. For advice about your specific situation, consult a lawyer licensed in Ontario.
Here is what that means, in plain words:
- We give legal information, not legal advice. Our software shares Ontario's published rules and fills official court forms from the answers you give and confirm. It never weighs your situation or tells you what you should do.
- You represent yourself. You review and confirm every answer. You sign and file your own application. The software is a tool, like tax software.
- Real judgment calls go to professionals. When your answers show something that needs judgment — a fight in the family, a handwritten will, a child who inherits — the software stops and tells you to see a lawyer. That is by design.
- Only licensed lawyers and paralegals may give legal advice in Ontario. They are licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. If you want advice, the Law Society's referral service can connect you with one.
- No outcome is promised. Certificates are granted by the court, never by us. Our promise covers fixing our own document errors — nothing more.
